I'm falling behind a bit, even with the slow days at work. UGH!! Good news, I'll be outprocessing here in Germany and heading to a new Army installation in a few months (and taking a month of leave -- i.e. vacation), so I will have additional "downtime" to read. LOL I might be able to get back on pace. The goal is still the word count.

I had another unintended 2 week hiatus, but was able to finish my 11th book on Friday. Of course, that means I'm almost as many behind in reaching 100 books by the end of the year.
I started reading the MRBC March selection: Shutter Island yesterday, but did not get any reading in today. |

Oh, Shutter Island is an excellent tale. I never read the book but saw the movie of the book. I am not going to give anything away but was you go through the book as yourself one important question - who is the inpantient here? I had a rough ride into work this morning and good thing that I was sitting in public transit and did not need to drive as I fell alseep a couple of times during the trip. Did not get the chance to catch up on my reading though. Hope to make up for it through out the day. I hope that reading that I do on the job counts since I will be doing a fair amount of that on the job lately.

I'm Changing Goals
I've decided to change and lower my reading goals. Although I will still be a member of the Mobile Read Book Club, I've decided to no longer use it as part of my 2012 challenge. I will concentrate on the series I listed, instead and will lower my over all goal from 100 to 85.

There should be no fear of failure.
I finished book number 21 last night. Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club. Highly recommended. Better than the movie for me and just full of interesting quotes on the state of the world and the quest for perfection. |

The first quater of 2012 will end on March 31st, if you are going to reach your goal you should have finished 1/4 of the total. Do you think you will make the goal? I am trailing by two books, thus I need to pick up the pace a little bit.

I'm one book behind, and not sure if I'm going to catch up, as my proirities have changed (writing, not reading).

I'm on schedule for total # of books, but doing woefully on the Classics v. Current, and the total number of books bought. And honestly, I suspect I'm not likely to change much this year. But it's good to have goals, they remind me to strive, at least.

This is my first year to participate in the challenge, and it has been interesting to approach my reading more consciously and with any kind of a goal. The whole process is really enjoyable. Hats off and thanks to MR |

I think this is a real limitation in a nonfiction audio book, and something I hadn't previously considered. |

At the moment I'm 12 books ahead of schedule and I've read over 8000 pages, 10000 was my initial goal but I've already upped that to 25000.
My series challenge is also going well, I'm only allowed to start a new series when I've finished (or decided to stop reading) two series I'm currently reading. I've yet to break this promise but up until now it was easy because I had several series that I had nearly finished. After finishing The Dresden Files and Koji Suzuki's Ring series I only have series on my list with 5+ books left to read. |

I'm currently 15% ahead of schedule, and most of the books I've read this year have been 4500-6000 Kindle locations, so not overly short books either.
I'm doing little else for entertainment lately, I've noticed (doing 10-12 hour work days at the computer so the last thing I want to do once I'm done with work for the day is to spend more time at it and I've basically stopped watching TV or DVDs), so that's certainly the biggest factor. I've tried to be good about buying books, seeing as I've got a massive to-be-read list (of books I've already acquired), but I've still bought more books than I've read... 74 books bought this year already. Just too many bargains on books in my "that sounds potentially interesting, should grab it when it can be had cheapishly" list, and I keep thinking that I should take advantage of all those Kobo coupons while they a) exist, b) no Agency model applying to me yet to worry about. So the to-be-read list is still growing at a faster pace. Ah well - not like I'm complaining about having too many books to read and too much choice. |

I finished book number 22. I figured I'd get to 50 books. I am well ahead of schedule for reading pace right now.
I've 7 letters, 2 decades and I'm estimating 13 books left on my original required reading challenges. I should be able to complete all three of those tasks. |
