95K Fires and 25K Kindles sold the first day
It's not exactly iPad territory, but the new Kindles appear to be off to a solid start according to one research firm.

Not really surprising. The Fire is launching at a magic price point and with tons of hype. They're going to sell a ton of them.

Still love the Nook STR, though. Love that expandable memory option. That's the one thing the Kindle is still lacking.

Just saw this regarding manufacturing/supply:
Will Amazon's Kindle Fire suffer from a supply shortage the company was infamous for during the original Kindle launch? Maybe, maybe not, but analysts have different ideas for the device's prospects. Now that the details and specifications of the Amazon Kindle Fire have been reported to death, the question turns to one of supply: Can Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and its hardware supplier Quanta make enough Kindle Fires to satisfy consumer demand? http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Desktops-an...estion-816663/ |

True. But why have all the others than? I guess I dont see it yet. I have enough entertainment devices(mp3 player, computer and tv) I dont want to add another one. Last edited by Tony1988; 10-01-2011 at 08:08 AM. |

That's you Tony, others are different. I've had my Xoom for about 6 months now and just recently posted about how I can no longer live without it. :-) I'm excited about getting the Fire to suppliment it!
Posted from my Xoom while waiting to drive my son to the airport. :-) |

There is a market for the things. It's not 250 million a year like PCs, but 5-10 million a year plus recuring content revenue is reason enough for Amazon to check in. |

Well, sure, they aren't final numbers. A certain percentage of pre-orders always cancel, but it still shows a healthy interest in the new Kindle line regardless of what the final first day sales numbers turn out to be.
