I use FBReader as my primary reader software on all devices that I own that support it. This includes both the PepperPad and the iLiad, where I use it for MOBI ebooks even though the Java MobiPocket Reader is also available. I don't use my PepperPad or Nokia 770 for ebooks much any more, since the iLiad replaced both for me.
They formally fall under Linux Desktop (as does the PepperPad), but the Linux Asus EEE bundles FBReader and the OLPC XO-1 is supposed to work well with FBReader. Both might have been worth their own entry in the poll. |

My dad, who's 82, recently started losing his sight to macular degeneration. He's never used a computer in his life, but I set up a laptop with linux, and set FBReader to load automatically on boot. I put a pile of SF ebooks on it (his favourite!), we put bright tactile stickers on the keys he needs to use and he loves it. We set up the typeface and colours so he could read them perfectly, and he's back to reading fiction after over a year without. His social worker and eye specialist are really impressed too, and don't seem to have seen anything like it before.
So thanks to the FBReader people for making my dad happy! |

I adore your reader and use it on my Windows laptop and my Zaurus. A fantastic job! Thanks so much for creating it.

I use the reader on my n800 and I do like it. I just wish for some bookmark support.

Tried it on the EEE PC but don't use it because the prs500 does a better job in bed.

Use it on my Nokia N800 for the occasional reading session. Still, most of my longer reading is done on the Gen 3.
Definitely need to check out the desktop clients however. |

I use FBReader as a plugin on my BeBook, initially for reading Plucker documents but I'm finding I'm using it for other formats also. Supporting FBReader (which in turn supports Plucker) was the primary factor in my decision to buy a BeBook. It works extremely well, but unfortunately the BeBook/Hanlin V3 library management isn't very good.
Actually, in almost every respect the HanLin V3 interface is pretty bad - both hardware and software. I use the full reader on my Nokia 770, although I find it annoying that I have to add Plucker files to the library manually. (I know there are good reasons for this shortcoming). For comparison, I also use the Plucker reader for Palm on my T3 - the library interface for that is much more useful in that context that the interface for FBReader on the 770 - but the two readers are designed for different uses I think. I comment on FBReader vs Plucker reader in more depth in my article "Plucker E-Book Workflow" which explains why Plucker as a file format is so important to me. |

Misha-
Thanks for your work on FBReader! My wife bought herself an eeePC because of it! I demoed it for her on my Linux box, and after seeing it, she decided to get the eeePC. She loves using FBReader, specifically, likes turning the eee on its side, and reading like a book. I use FBReader too--now, on my MSI Wind--but not nearly as much as she does. But we both love using it to read various things. :-) -Jon |

FBReader rules. I just wish I had it for my 505s. On the Nokia Tablet platform it rocks!

I don't currently use it, as I do most of my reading on a Palm handheld, though I did try it out on a Zaurus that a friend of mine had for a while. Nice software!
I am in the process of upgrading, when the devices and budget are available, and Linux may be part of the solution (either Android or whatever the OpenPandora people end up using). If not for FBReader, I would probably not even consider Linux as an option. If I do go with Linux/FBReader, however, I will have to do a bunch of reformatting as most of my reading material is in iSilo and eReader files. That is one reason I am still considering my other choice, the iTouch, which can run both programs. The Bandit |

FBReader is my favorite eBook program -- I use it on the Iliad and also on a Nokia N800. I wish the Iliad version were updated to the most current version and that it allowed searching etc.
