I just booked my Reading Retreat for mid January. I've already made a list of things I need to get before going. Hopefully this will motivate my to start buying those things soon instead of panicking a week before going and risking not being able to get everything.
I've also emailed Herschel. I really like their Little America backpack. But like most backpack manufacturers the list it fits a 15" notebook, not specifying the exact size in inches or centimeters. Now I'm going to finish my current book and start the next. |

Contemplating scraping the ice off the car and
visiting an old friend; or maybe letting the weather warm up slightly, and visiting later on today! |

Spray the window with 1 part water, 2 parts isopropol (rubbing) alcohol. Should eliminate the need to scrape. Or at least make it very easy.

I recently discovered the podcast My Favorite Murder and have been slowly making my way through their episodes. Today I heard an ad on their podcast that they are going on an American and European tour and in May 2018 they'll be visiting De Meervaart theater in Amsterdam. I'm going to have to get a ticket next week. Unfortunately it's on a Wednesday, so I can't stay the night and have a mini break in Amsterdam (on Thursday I don't like to take the morning off due to consulting hour), but I do plan to have a fun day in Amsterdam before the show.

A while back one of our suppliers sent out a questionnaire, I filled it out and send it back. Last week we got, as a thank you, a book gift certificate (most bookshops accept those). Since my father doesn't read and I filled out the questionnaire I got the gift certificate. This weekend I ordered Rien Poortvliet's Leven en Werk van de Kabouter (Life and Labour fo the Gnome).
When I joined the scouts the age group I joined was called the Gnomes and my grandparents gave me this book as a present. It was the pocket edition. For a while now I have been looking for my copy, but I couldn't find it. It was probably thrown out during the clean up after the fire. Today I picked up my new, bigger, hardcover copy. I still love it. The drawings are so good and I love how authors Poortvliet and Huygens made up everything about the gnomes (the house, medical facts, how they cure things, what dangers they face, their relationships with animals, etc). After all what has happened over the last four and a half years, due to my grandparents not having a good will, this brings back good memories of them. |

Thinking about calling Santa and telling him I found his hat.
Maybe I will put it on his desk. I went and found the Christmas tree. |

Decompressing. It was a long day of friendly banter and occasional sniping at the family Thanksgiving get together.
