Yea, I really miss Bloom County. It was my favorite comic strip of all time. I still reference the Banana 6000. On the flip side, I do like the fact that Berkeley Breathed (amazingly that's his real name) stopped the strip on a high note rather than wait until he ran out of ideas.

I got the Opus when it first came out and had no freezing issues. The firmware certainly lacked many features, which they promised were coming and never delivered. My only real contact with their support was that my Opus screen ended up having some burst eInk capsules, but they were happy to replace it once I shipped it to them in France (gave an RMA right away and the turnaround was pretty quick). That replacement still works great (and is still lacking features). Bookeen, at least in the earlier days, has always had a big problem with making promises on firmware and not coming through.

As you may recall, this was the time that Bookeen were in the process of switching between Mobi and ePub versions of the firmware. The Mobi version worked fine - it was the ePub firmware that I had all the problems with. It literally would freeze every few minutes while reading, and on the Opus it was a real PITA because you had to take the back off the device, and stick a pin into a hole to reset it. I certainly wasn't the only one to experience the problem.

Anyway, I'm delighted to hear that their support has now improved, but that experience put me off them for life, I'm afraid.

I have no idea if their support is now improved, my dealing with them were back when the first version of the Opus was still a current product and I found them responsive (but that was a hardware issue). I use almost exclusively the ePub firmware and now that you mention about having to do the pin hole reset I do recall having that issue a few times early on, but the firmware I'm currently running (and have had loaded for years) doesn't seem to have that issue (not that I use the Opus much anymore, but I did use it for about 8 hours a few months ago).

I've had no desire to get another device from them as I don't like the way they never followed through with adding the promised features to the Opus firmware and also the lack of a US source to buy. I don't really have a problem buying from France, or the UK or Canada, etc. but would prefer something I can get from a US retailer.

I was wondering if it'll be possible to retrofit some LEDs or light strips in the silicone case/bezel?

edit: ignore me, it has a light already! Too used to my Sony PRS-T3 with no light

I gave up on Bookeen when I was looking for a new Reader and they would not ship to the US. This was when I wanted to move on from my T1 before I got the H2O.

Mine was quite stable until it hit 70% battery, then issues everywhere so I think it may have been at least partly battery related.
Gave up using it without ever trying a new battery.

Apparently, this SAGA is on display at an event in Germany at the moment, and release said November 2017 and we're here already so I hope they don't miss the Christmas selling period.

It was previously only available in France and Spain as the NOLIM from supermarket/retailer Carrefour.

There are reviews out there
https://www.lesnumeriques.com/liseus...9167/test.html

pricing for NOLIM is: €129.90
http://www.carrefour.fr/search/site/...can_redirect=1

it would be great if they go for €99 with the SAGA rebrand and wider launch.

NOLIM video review by goodereader

129.9 Euro equals
151.63 US Dollar

A lot of pluses. (except resolution)

Probably hardware problem related to voltage levels. Flashlights may burn as long as there is a smidgen of voltage and current, but complicated electronics doesn't, usually unless designed properly.

For me, the only real plusses for the Saga are the physical design and the storage.

I watched a Goodereader review of the Muse (I couldn't find a review of the Saga and want sure it was fair to compare the Nolim to the Saga) and their software just looks too basic/amateur. It reminded me of a less nice version of the Nook software and I know people like to slag that. What killed my interest is the dictionary being a full page that seems to exit the book. Seeing that made me think nobody really cared about the software.

Maybe things got better with the Saga. But for $150.00 US, you could buy the Glowlight 3 or the Paperwhite or the Aura Edition 2 and have nicer hardware and software and still have money left over.

Quite right now that you mention it.
Admittedly, less a pain to contact bookeen when in France. If only for the whole shipping thing.

I like the fact the bookeen software is basic. Does what I need it to do.
Can't compare to nook, but I like the bookeen software better than kobo's.

Does it now offer basic facilities such as searching and bookmarking? I was quite shocked that it didn't when it first appeared - those really are things you'd expect any reader to be able to do.
