Thanks, I happen to notice there are MUCH more resources for K5 than K4, there must be a reason for that
Anyway I still have a working prs-505 so have some time to pick the very best kindle that has all the goodies working on it

Those logs look very promising indeed. A friend of mine has a Kindle PW and I am looking forward to install JBPatch on it to see if it is really worth it. I think it does not have too many advantages against my old KT as it is now...

@NiLuJe: A bit late maybe, but thanks a lot for investigating this, I really appreciate it. That's actually good news, because it means that there aren't many changes required to adapt the JBPatch core to the PW. Concerning the overhead: hmm... well yeah, of course some overhead is necessarily present, but 25-30% is really a bit much. I tried to make the entire thing as efficient as possible, but maybe I missed something - I'll check it and try to find out what causes the delays, once I get my PW.

@arikfunke: Since supporting the K3 is actually relatively straightforward, I'm thinking about doing so "officially". As a first step, I simply compiled the K5 version, plus the K3Startup class. I'm attaching the output here. Could you (or anybody else, for that matter) please test this on the K3 and report back if it works? Unless I'm terribly mistaken, it should work smoothly as a drop-in replacement for arikfunke's posted file.

Note: the attached file *is* the jbpatch.jar, but mobileread won't allow to attach jar files. Just rename jbpatch.zip to jbpatch.jar (don't unzip it).

Yes, drop it anywhere in the classpath. (/opt/amazon/ebook/lib/ is the most logical, and preferred, location).

But as said, it's only the jar file; you still have to edit the startup script to actually use it. (See arikfunke's HOWTO).

Maybe that space isnt supposed to be there? also dont reflash, go into DIAGS on the K3 and fix stuff from myts with it if you know what is broken.

Nah, the spaces are just artifacts that the forum inserts (probably when it thinks that a "word" is too long).

@twobob: hmmm... sorry for that, I really thought it would work. Do you have any logfile around? (It's probably a ClassNotFoundException* or a NoClassDefFoundError* somewhere, but I didn't think that would occur. But I couldn't test it, so... as I can't be the guinea pig, somebody else has to be.)

(*) Yes, I'm also continuously, still, and everytime: confused. I still don't understand the conceptual difference.

Hi ixtab.

My name is Gabriel, and I have recently installed jbpatch on my kt. Before anything else, I want to tell you Thanks, you have done a great job!

Everything is working very well, except an issue. I'm experiencing problems with the page refresh rate, that I have disabled from the kt menu, and despite this, I can see refreshing every page! :-(, all this happened since I installed jbpatch.

I hope you could give me some help.
