iFilter for EPUB files

Does anyone know of a Windows iFilter dll that will index ePub files

WS gives near instantaneous response of 136 matches for "Mario Monti" on 3000+ RTF's and 3000+ PDF's

On my netbook I only keep the EPUBs, I don't run calibre on it, so the Quality Check plug-in content isn't available . Tags are not a solution as I often 'get' the search term from something I just read, heard, saw on the news.

I asked in the ePub forum but so far I there's no response

thanks br

This MIGHT be a long shot, but since an ePub is in effect a ZIP file, if you can find a ZIP filter it might be possible to configure it to scan .epub's too.

Thanks PeterT

I have an iFilter for zips, I also have one for HTML, and I have one for CHM - but the workstation versions, at least, don't appear to be 'configurable'.

Given that iFilters exist for PDF, CHM, XPS etc I'm sort of surprised someone hasn't written one for ePubs. I suspect the reason there isn't one is because the earlier versions of the various "Desktop Search" programs were all deficient and flaky, so the whole idea got a bad reputation.

However, the Desktop Search that comes with Windows 7 is significantly better, even though its built on the same underlying indexing service using the same iFilter based design and implementation.

I've contacted Citeknet (iFilter 'specialist') to ask if they are interested in doing one, or if not whether they could make the source for the CHM iFilter available to me so I can roll my own.
