Help: Font Sizing Irregularities

Just got my kindle this week. I'm having an issue with font sizes on a particular title. The problem is that the font size is always one size larger than the selected value. The exception is that the first paragraph of each chapter is always the correct size. The remaining paragraphs use a larger font size.

Does anyone know if this is because of the book, or is there a bug in the Kindle that may cause this? Thanks.

It's probably in the formatting of the book itself. Have you tried looking at with Kindle for PC?

If you're finding it to annoying, Amazon will refund your purchase - I think you have 7 days?

Even better! You can get that book right here at MobileRead for free. The formatting is excellent, it has linked chapters, TOC, etc.:

It's a problem with the book. In the source of the sample, it consistenly sets the font to a different size for leading and following paragraphs.

Amazon will refund you, or if you want to keep the book for the newer translation, then if you let them know about the problem and eventually the publisher fixes it, they'll notify you should a fixed version become available.

Also, welcome to MobileRead!

Ok, thanks for the info. It's not that bad I guess. I do want to to keep this version, since many reviewers indicate that this translation is superior to the free versions. It also has foot notes that explains many of the period references.

Well, if you're determined enough to try and fix it yourself, it should be pretty easy.

You will need to strip the DRM and unpack from Mobipocket to HTML, but from what I've seen of the source files from the sample, all you'll have to do after that is do a find/replace in your favourite text editor to change all the <font size="#"> to have the same consistent number and then regenerate the .mobi.

No need to fiddle with anything else and if you can set the metadata so that the fixed file has the same ASIN identifier number as the original, then apparently Amazon will even back up your notes and highlights on it to their server, too.

Of course, this may be more than you want to bother with for a relatively minor problem in what sounds like an otherwise well-done book.
