No. Onyx USA is not selling the M91. I'm now wavering on this purchase. Will this thing have a crapload of software problems, like the Irex 1000's?

I am a little bit skeptical if Onyx will be able to put M90/M91S on the market within the next two or three months. It seems that they still have the same problem with the infrared button and the battery power consumption. After two or three days of usage the battery is completely discharged and that is a really serious complication. They have been trying to correct it by new firmware updates, but to no avail. It seems to be a hardware failure probably caused by the infrared button.

That would be totally unprofessional. Well, I should get excited less often about new devices (Pocketbook and Onyx are example) and stick to my DR800.

I know stuff is still in development but I will only be at my delivery address in June and July only and if I do not see drastic improvement in battery life and any delivery guarantee before I leave Sweden I will have to cancel my order.

If this thing falls through, I don't expect any other decent 9.7" devices this year - I'll prolly go for the iPad2 or something... it'll probably have the same battery life as the M90

I canceled my pre-order for the M91s and spend about the same amount on TWO secondhand iRex iLiads v2 and ONE broken iRex iLiad Book Edition (for repairs).
I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything by passing up on the M91s and my girlfriend is definately not missing out on anything... she was using a Cybook Gen 3 before (which may appear in the Flea Market sometime soon).

its not going to "fall through". its a glitch. beta testers found a power drain and its been found to be that the wifi module isnt turning off when its supposed to . they'll sort that out with a firmware up date and get on with production.

i read something else interesting about the IR mouse button. it seems some were experiencing spontaneous page turns when reading in bright sun light.

I 've seen that "triggered by sunlight" action before but what actually happens is "triggered by shadow". I used to work for Sharper Image and they sold those automatic soap dispensers- hold you hand under the nozzle and it dispenses liquid soap for a couple of seconds.

every once in a while there would be a customer that walked into his or her bathroom to find the entire contents of the dispenser on the counter/floor. everything would work fine until a certain time of the year when the angle of the windows and angle of the sun plus placement of curtains or what ever else would be jussstt right at their house to cause a just right intermittent shadow movement across the sensor.

that would trigger the dispenser. over an over and over again when no on was around.

Sharper finally made some changes to the operation so that the IR sensor was less sensitive to momentary brightness changes. its a tough balance between wanting a timely response to purposeful input and unwanted triggers. Onyx should be able to deal with it in firmware settings of the ir device itself and perhaps user selected software options(lock page turns to the capacitve buttons on the other side)

ah yeah in the review here it mentions you can already choose between the ir mouse and the capacitive buttons

and whether it is five-dimensional capacitive key or button operation

Guys,
I have direct contact with Onyx Boox International in China.
And there is nothing wrong with the IR touch key.
There is only a delay with the Touchscreen supplier in Japan (For the M90).

So there are no complications with the M91S

When can we expect the 91S in Europe?

Thanks

On the 9th of June the M90 is finished and they directly ship it (m90 and M91S) to our office in Europe.
