I might be able to tell more if you post the full conversion job log. Instructions for doing that are in the first post of this thread under "Dealing with Conversion Errors". |

I wasn't able to find out anything else useful from that log.
I suspect that either there is something wrong with the Kindle Previewer installation on your system or possibly anti-virus software is blocking part of it from executing. I suggest testing it by downloading this version of Frankenstein in EPUB format, known to convert properly. Open it with the Kindle Previewer and verify that conversion is successful and that the Inspector window shows "Enhanced Typesetting" with a green check-mark afterwards. If it fails then try un-installing and then reinstalling the Previewer or disabling your anti-virus. In the mean time I plan to release another version of the plugin tomorrow that will be able to capture and report more information when this type of error occurs. You can try that if the above suggestion doesn't help. |

It was in fact Bitdefender. There were no issues in the past with it, but after the new update it grabed all the .exe Previewer files and throwed it in quaratine.
Thanks for your fast help!! Last edited by Lovepotion; 10-18-2017 at 09:32 AM. |

I'm glad that you were able to figure it out. A new plugin release that will help to diagnose this sort of problem in the future is coming shortly.

Version 1.12.0 - 18 Oct 2017
Show conversion guidance produced by the Kindle Previewer and allow conversion of Arabic and Japanese language books when running Mac OS. (Accidentally left out of previous release.) Added error logging to help detect the cause of Kindle Previewer failures. |

I've been playing with the conversion options but I'm stuck trying to put a cover image in the output KFX file for a while now.
Is there a way to do that? I have been trying the conversion from an EPUB file to KFX. So far I have been successfully converting it and I can see the file and open it on my Kindle Paperwhite but the file doesn't render any cover when I'm in the Library view. BTW this plugin works just fine when all the conditions are met. |

amazon:ASIN After you've sent the book to your kindle, when you connect the device to the internet it should download the cover automatically. |

I know that with the KF8 files, there is a separate thumbnail that you can transfer to your Kindle after tranferring the ebook file to get the thumbnail. Standard Ebooks provides both a KF8 file and the right thumbnail to transfer to the thumbnails directory. I wonder if there would be anyway of getting a filename for a thumbnail from the previewer?

Checked that the ID field in book metadata has the format "isbn:9876543210987, amazon:0098765433" (example digits) but covers are shown in Kindle Oasis library for the .mobi version but not for the .kfx.

Glad you managed to fix it. As you noticed, that number you had before is not the ASIN: you need to go specifically the book's Kindle page to get that. Downloading metadata directly with Calibre works sometimes but not always, so as soon as you see that the ASIN you get does not start with 'B' you need to retrieve it manually.

I'm attempting to convert a mobi file created by KCC to KFX, and receive the following error when trying to convert:
Quote:
EDIT 2: Finally got myself some converted KFX manga files, and I have some thoughts about the process and the results. I imported the raw image files into Kindle Comic Creator NOT using panel view, but using either all double page spread or all facing pages (depending on how the pages were laid out). I then used the command line to convert to KFX (as using the GUI converted it incorrectly) and used Calibre to import the KFX files into my Kindle PW3. As for actually reading the KFX files on my PW3, I had no problems at all with stability and the features work great. Virtual Panel and Previewing Double Page Spread work great once enabled, and fast page turning also worked great! Although the process of converting into KFX is not as seamless as it is using Kindle Comic Converter, it's not terribly more difficult using Kindle Comic Creator + KFX Output. The results are great for my purposes, and I will be adding Kindle Comic Creator + KFX Output to my arsenal of sideloading manga for unprocessed image sources (not pre-joined, etc.), while using Kindle Comic Converter for already processed images. I love this plugin! It works great with all the nifty new typesetting features.
1) But quick question; I can get real actual page numbers with AZW3 output but it seems I can't get actual page numbers (or estimates) with this plugin. Anyway to get real page numbers? 2) Same question for the XRAY Plugin. I can get the xray plugin working with AZW3 but not this KFX output plugin apparently ;( 3) No matter if I selected "remove spacing between paragraphs" or not... it seemed like there was always a space in between paragraphs. Any way around that? Thanks! Thanks so much! Last edited by arooni; 10-30-2017 at 12:23 AM. |
