CLI ebook manager ?

Hopefully I didn't miss a lot while googling it and searching this forum.

But I can't find a single text mode/CLI ebook manager. Basically like Calibre but able to work in just a Linux terminal...

I'm not even such what a "command line" book reader would look like. Do you mean that you want a book reader that can be launched from a command line, or one actually displays the book as plain text in the terminal?

Sorry, I mis-typed. I have corrected now. I meant "ebook manager". I don't want to read books in console, just organize them there. Will still read on the ereader ... (the explanation is that I'm a console kind of guy, I try to avoid GUI).

I would think it would be a lot more complicated to manage eBooks using a CLI than a GUI. So why would you want to go to the hassle?

I don't know of an ebook-manager application as such. Calibre has a CLI interface for individual tasks. If you're a CLI guy no doubt you're comfortable with scripting? I have written a couple of scripts that manipulate the calibre library using the calibredb command. You could easily create scripts to do all the management that way.

That said, if you were to use Calibre as your 'engine' then you are tied into using its database and folder structure. The later in particular is an issue for some folks.

Remember certain operations such as format conversion do not require the file to be in the database or library directory structure.
