But the thousands of people who downloaded it and gave it 5 star reviews Probably they don't think it is garbage. It is by far the most popular reader app in the store. And one of the most highly rated. Feel free to recommend an android app in the Google store which in your opinion is better. |

You can add me to the list of those who do not appreciate the way that Moon+ reader out of the box disregards the ebook's CSS. I would suggest Pocketbook's app which by default does respect the CSS and also does TTS.

Maybe pocketbook will overtake it it it's not there yet on download volumes. I would prefer that garbage epiphet s reserved for developers who quit developing but keep on taking the up front money or even worse, the recurring supscriptiom fees. E.g. Some suckers are still being charged for bookari cloud access, even though its terminally broken. |

Please provide an example of a free book I can check this out for myself with. In the books I have read with it, this has never presented any difficulty in reading a book, and I have never noticed any issue I would describe as "not respecting the CSS well."

Try eBooks from Standard Ebooks. They will not work well.

I tried Moon+ and found it one of the poorer reading apps on Android.
Bluefire, Aldiko, Lithium, Pocketbook are all better. |

I have tried the quoted apps & find them undesirable for me; I even can say they "suck" for what [B]I[B] want in a reader app. Moon+ is not perfect in every respect but better than most others whether for an ipad, android or windows or linux, for me & maybe others. "Respect for CSS"? If one wanted to respect the CSS, then that person will not change any of the CSS that was in the ebook from the publisher, warts & all, for what they consider to be more readable. |

No, CSS / HTML can be broken, but the solution is to fix it, not to use an App that plain ignores it.

That's why I prefer an app that allows me to do everything - including a wide variety of applications that can be called up directly via the touchscreen. The Alreader offers me that. |

. Moon reader can be set to Obey whichever CSS u 2wntnobeyed. It has comprehensive options for that which are not rushed on by default. Of course, if it obeyed ALL CSS it would be like using the publishers default option- an unreadable mess on a 5 inch screen So on default settings yes ignores the CSS that creates an awful small screen experience. But that is all user configurable. The user can say, at a very fine level, what CSS to ignore and what CSS to not ignore. Study the user options. .the app was developed to provide a decent reading experience on very small screens, not to render like for a4 output. It's a mobile only reader. I have zero problems getting moon to obey any CSS changes I care to impose, maybe because I took the trouble to understand how user preferences work within the app. If u want to see what ignoring ALL the CSS looks like, convert your eoub to .txt and see the difference. This thread is degenerating into moon reader hate fdst.so I won't bother challenging you for a CSS line that it cannot be set to anot ignore, via user oreferences. Haters gotta hate, I guess , so please continue without me Last edited by stumped; 01-28-2023 at 03:46 PM. |

I have a problem buying clothes. What is available at stores are "customized" for someone at 5-foot 8-inches tall as I have read for "medium" sized clothing. Have not found any brands that accommodate short people; did see online stores for "jockeys" with very high prices. There are very few brands of jeans that even have inseams shorter than 30-inches; some do have 29-inseam but that is also too long. Now the "best" brand of jeans most likely will NOT fit me so according to Moon+ bashers, I still should buy something that will not fit & get it tailored at more cost with my limited income? It is is difficult to find clothing to fit my short pot belly frame anywhere. Moon+ has enough flexibility & customizating for me while other people may want to change the ebook display to their liking with changes to the CSS. I prefer to leave an ebook as acquired but displayed by the app for my preferences. I had bought Mantano but got rid of it when I found that it cannot read plain Text books like some downloaded for linux; paid for Universal but it can take 2-5 minutes to turn a page (years ago); abandoned Aldiko when it could not & will not display hi resolution covers & no response from the authors for over 1 year; some other apps have limited configurations. And it seems to be the thing for reader apps to have their own library for ebooks read by the app. As for highlighting, I do not care as I do not highlight nor do I annotate; others may find them very important. |

As for your ability to convince Moon+ Reader not to disregard CSS? Most users do not dig down into the maze of menu options and simply go with the defaults. Quote:
Not a hater but someone who feels that an epub renderer that does not respect CSS out of the box is not going to be appearing on my list of decent renderers. |

I tried advanced epub versions of The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg and Poetry by James Joyce, a regular epub version of Poetry by Ambrose Bierce, and an AZW version of The Divine Comedy by Dante. When I tried them in Moon+ Reader, the two advanced epubs didn't display covers, and they had small squares with SVG written in them, indicating that there were SVG images they couldn't display. The text appeared appropriately, though, and it was left justified in both books. The AZW and the regular epub included covers, they displayed graphics, and the text appeared appropriately. What I learned from this is that I shouldn't use advanced epubs with Moon+ Reader, but it is still fine to use Moon+ Reader with Standard Books if I choose a different format than advanced epub.
