Depends on who you ask. That, indeed, is one of the definitions offered by the Urban Dictionary, but the Online Slang Dictionary defines "blargy" as an adjective that means "unwell".

Ah, but "unwell" still falls under the category of anything.

Is there a relationship between the replicants in the movie Blade Runner and the boomers* in the anime series Bubblegum Crisis and its related series? Although replicants are essentially biological robots, while boomers are machines in the form of humans, both are basically more human than human (to use a line from Blade Runner). Both are designed for a function, but become trouble for normal humans when they advance beyond that function.
*As shown in the series, it seems that a boomer is what you get if you take a human and duplicate him/her, using electronics and mechanical to duplicate the biological functions of a human. Properly constructed, a boomer should function the same as a biological human. |

Uh Solitaire, out of curiosity do you ever post on the MacRumors site? I was just participating in a conversation about Blade Runner over there.
Anyway, the reason they seem similar is because the creator of Bubblegum Crisis was heavily inspired by Blade Runner. There is even a couple overt references: "Priss" and her band "The Replicants". Last edited by Dylrob; 12-20-2012 at 01:55 AM. |

Will we ever seen another musical group like The Beatles? I doubt we ever will, since The Beatles hit at a moment when circumstances were just right for them to become the group they became. Among the factors were the right producer and the right timing in the United States. I think that due to this, and other factors, led The Beatles to reach a very high level in music one I doubt will be reached by any other group.

It had been years since I saw the original Bubblegum Crisis OAV (the one that was never completed) so I'd forgotten about the references (overt and otherwise) to Blade Runner. Most of my experience with the Boomerverse are from the other successor videos such as Paraside Dolls and A.D. Police. In some ways, Blade Runner and the Boomerverse are opposites of each others. While Blade Runner humanity seems to be expanding into space, the Boomerverse seems to be confined to Earth. Another difference seems to be that in the Blade Runner universe each replicant seem to be a potential problem, yet in the Boomerverse Boomers can vary from beneficial to problematic. That's something that seems common in anime which feature robots and androids. In some (All-Purpose Cat-Girl Nuku Nuku, Chobits, Hand Maid May, and Steel Angel Karumi), the mechanical being is of benefit to society rather than a threat. In others (Black Magic M-66, Key The Metal Idol, and Paradise Dolls), some mechanical beings are a threat. |

Actually the discussion was about real life sex robots. Heh.
Speaking of which, the sexeroids in the BGC OAV did escape from a space station. So humans of that universe do have at least some presence in space. |
