Banning animated avatars

Personally I don't see what there is to discuss. Not only is this the second thread created to discuss the exact same subjectively-offensive avatar, as I pointed out in the second post, the resolution had already been given in the other thread before this one was created.

The official guidelines made it clear exactly what the policy is, and no one has even attempted to offer a reason to change it, and now the official answer has appeared in this thread as well.

Not only was there never good justification for this thread's existence, its tenuous excuse has long since run out.

There was never anything up for discussion (per word of Mod) and there darn well isn't now.

Please, I urge you. Bury this dessicated corpse.

What you need to do is moan mercilessly about them (because there is no difference between your opinion and fact after all) until the mods cave in and ban them.

To disable animated avatars temporarily just hit the escape key. They will stop.

For info, hitting the escape key using the current version of Firefox doesn't stop the avatar I referred to in my last post.

Your settings let you choose not to see sigs and then that applies across all devices.

(I've got sigs turned off, too.)

I use Seamonkey which is based on the same engine as Firefox and it worked fine on the fly and all of the other animations. I don't know why it would not work for you.

For some reason I can't stop staring at it. Personally that's my issue with avatars gif or all gifs in general. It would take me a long time just observing it, which is wasting my time because it does the same thing over and over again anyway. Hahaha.

We should not need a plug-in to fix a feature that never should have been removed.

Speaking of Firefox plugins to replace torn-out functionality, a while back I upgraded firefox and got the shock of my life -- for a minute I thought it wa replaced by Chrome. Fortunately there are fixes.
