Bug in FlightCrew

I have an ePub that fully validates using ePubCheck 1.2. FlightCrew doesn't like it.

FlightCrew is telling me that my font declaration is incorrect when FlightCrew says it's fine.

Quote:
The <item> element's "media-type" attribute has value "font/opentype", but the file's media type is "application/vnd.ms-opentype".
That is what FlightCrew says is incorrect when it's actually correct.

Before submitting a bug report, it's better to check if it wasn't already listed in the FlightCrew issue tracker. If it's not present, the issue tracker is anyway the right place where to put a bug report

PS: it would be better to report the CSS/XHtml lines to whom FlightCrew is referring to ... and if you're reporting about standalone FlightCrew or the one embedded into Sigil.

Well, according to the ePub 2.0.1 spec:

Any font files included in an OPS Publication must be included in the OPF manifest with appropriate media type (application/vnd.ms-opentype for OpenType fonts).

Note that passing epubcheck does not mean everything is fine, it just means that it passes epubcheck. (Likewise for FlightCrew.)

But I know this ePub is fine except for this one discrepancy.

Regardless, it's ePubCheck that most publishers go with. So it epc says it's OK, then it's OK for them.

Sooo... if ePubCheck says it's ok, even if the specifications say that it's NOT ok, then it becomes a bug in FlightCrew?

So it's not fine then.

But FlightCrew is not an epubcheck clone. It validates against the spec, whatever epubcheck does or does not, is not FlightCrew's business.

Maybe what you mean is: Sigil should use epubcheck as validator. That's a different matter

That was written in December 2009. The spec has been modified after that (see discussion)
