Depends on what you mean by "advanced." I think e-ink is pretty amazing, with how many zillion little bits that rotate to form the words. LCD is an older tech, though newer versions have come out recently. They each are the best for their particular uses.

I agree, advanced is too broad a term. Do you mean - fastest page turns, longest battery life, highest screen resolution/contrast, back lit/front lit, largest/smallest screen, lightest, most memory, color/greyscale, most formats read natively, plays MP3's/videos, runs apps, replaceable battery, solar/fuel cell powered...
Not knowing your criteria, I'd say the most advanced e-readers are actually tablet PC's (iPad or other). |

None on the market yet, but I'd conciser Mirsol to be the most advanced display technology. All readers I assume have very similar microchip fabrication technologies used-- modern chip fabbing is very, very high-tech.

If you're speaking about dedicated E-Ink devices, my general thought would be Amazon or Sony, as they have the new pearl screens which no one else has yet.
Having said that, I think it's more important to ask whose tech is best fitted to your needs. A rowboat is hardly advanced technology, but it does its job very well. I don't know if you know the story about NASA spending huge sums to create a pen that would still work in micro-gravity. After the Cold War had ended they asked the Russians how they solved the problem. The answer: They used pencils. |

No it doesn't but I do have heartburn with people spreading urban legends without verifying their veracity first.

Thanks for the Snopes link. I had not read the whole story before.
Certainly not political, lol. Perhaps a bit harsh though. How do you verify an urban legend, or even know the story you're relating is somehow a legend rather than history (which isn't always truth anyway)? Is Snopes the defining authority, no other source that is acceptable? |
