Viewer & large files

Is there a file size limit to what the Viewer (Calibre-parallel) can hold open, or does it have a restriction when opening MOBI dictionary files? I purchased a Japanese-English dictionary from Amazon and it creates some kind of flow problem that hangs the application when I try to open it.

I tried to view "The New Oxford American Dictionary", a 28-MB MOBI file. It eventually timed-out with errors. One of the errors was a memory error.

Possibly Viewer will work with large files if PC has enough RAM.

I have several EPUB's in the 13-MB range that work fine. Don't have any bigger EPUB's to test. So ... problem could be some combination of file size, MOBI format, dictionary format or RAM!!

The Calibre viewer is really only an ePub viewer. Any other format is first internally converted to ePub, so that conversion can be the limiting factor.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be sticking with my Nook's internal dictionary.
