I have very little interest in reviews and I don't want to rate books either. I have no trouble finding reading that interests me. I even did it without internet back in the day.... I'm sure GR is great for those who like it, but I found I had no need of it whatsoever. I guess I ought to sign in, see if there's an easy way to delete the account. The main reason I use GR is to keep track of the books I read.

When neither vendor nor customer will use an ISBN, why provide an ISBN for the specific format? My sense is that the current "best practices" for self-publishers is: * Each printed format (hardcover, trade paperback, mass market paperback) has its own ISBN; * All audio formats share the same ISBN; * All ebook formats share the same ISBN; However, I've noticed some self-publishers have started giving ePubs their own ISBN, with other ebook formats sharing the same ISBN; |

Because an ISBN is supposed to uniquely identify a specific format of a book, whether that be paperback, hardback, ePub, PDF, Kindle or anything else. As I said in a previous post, though, there are no "ISBN police", so how they use ISBNs is a decision for each individual publisher to make.
