Free (Kindle) Iron Tongue by Robert E. Vardeman [Sci-Fantasy Multiverse Adventure]
Iron Tongue by Robert E. Vardeman (ISFDB, Wikipedia, SFE), a 1972 Hugo Award finalist for Best Fan Writer, in addition to being an author in his own right, is the 4th novel in his Cenotaph Road series of sci-fantasy hybrid pulp adventure novels set in a demonpunk “technology”-powered magical multiverse accessed by travelling the road between the worlds, this installment seeing the hero, his arachnid sidekick, and a new traveling companion take to the road again to prevent a bodiless evil wizard from obtaining the titular magical MacGuffin which will allow him to recorporate and resume his presumable reign of terror, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Venture imprint.
This was originally published in 1984 by Ace Books. We've previously received the 1st and 3rd novels free as well, and this story follows directly from a plot point of the 3rd, which is regularly affordably priced, and sometimes drops to just 99 cents on sale, if you missed it earlier. Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program) Description The Cenotaph Road has once again led Lan Martak, Inyx and their Krek, their spider companion, to a new world. They know it will bring new friends, new enemies and new dangers. But the evil, fleshless wizard Claybore has already begun wreaking chaos and havoc in these lands as he searches for his old body and powers. This time, he seeks his Iron Tongue … The travellers soon learn that Claybore’s tongue now belongs to another. In a race against time, Lan and his companions must find the Iron Tongue before Claybore does. Will they be able to find its user? And will they be able to defeat the nefarious mage once and for all? |
