There are two available, both authored by Kovid. Is there a difference between the two? I can try both but was wondering why there are 2...

Yes, I couldn't see a difference either, which is why I asked. I think I will look at the recipe's...

I didn't compare line by line, but I see no major recipe differences...

I compared them using Windows FC; the only difference is an extra blank line in one of them. One recipe is actually named economist_free.recipe which makes me think at one time the other might have prompted for an account.

Mr Goyal, what were the improvements for The Economist´s Recipe in the new Calibri version released today? (I supose both recipes were improved)

If you want to see the changes for any recipe, simply look at the history of that recipe file in the calibre github repo
