books sent to kindle don't show

I am using a Mac OS Sierra 11.0.3. I am trying to send books to my kindle paperwhite 4th gen. using a USB cable. Have always been able to. Calibre shows they go and are on the kindle but nothing arrives on the kindle. They are not being indexed as nothing is showing as being in process. I tried sending the same books the same way to my son's kindle (same kind) and no problem. Any ideas how to fix my kindle?
I have reformatted the books to mobi (from mobi) and resent after deleting them off the kindle. Nothing works. I can still send books from Amazon to the kindle.

I did read that answer prior to posting my question but still having trouble. I haven't put books on the kindle for awhile so the offending book is the one that i just put on if that is the reason. So i removed it and did a mobi to movi conversion. same problem when putting back on. Shows as delivered and on my kindle but nothing on the kindle. And it isn't showing as any books are still being indexed. I even tried putting the book straight onto the kindle by opening the kindle on the computer and dropping the book straight into the documents of the kindle. Works on the other kindle (same generation) but not this one. Really hoping there is a fix and i don't have to replace it.

Dont be so sure it is the current book. If I were you, I'd delete all the books on the kindle, send only the problem book over and then see. Or better, reset the Kindle.

there are over 200 books on the kindle. I will do that if i need to but before i do wouldn't it have acted up before if it was one of the other 200 books since I haven't put any books on recently? DIdn't happen till i was putting this last set of books on the other day. Just trying to save myself the hassle if its not needed. Thanks.
