I am lucky to get FLP for free. BPL has tons more audio books than FLP. I have to pay for BPL but it's a better value than these subscription services, as they are now.

Ahhh... there it is. Didn't see it. Navigation is horrid.

I only signed up to test its functionality with Echo. Never intended to keep it.

For the long-time user who has already cherry-picked its catalogue, it's hard to make a case for buying a card. I'm lucky; I got an FLP card for my mother when seniors were free and so far, she seems to be grandfathered. But if it got pulled, I'd wait a while before rejoining, if I did at all.
I made the mistake of rejoining in late spring when FLP was buying nothing; someone said they'd run out of money because it was the end of their fiscal year. But since then, as you say, they've added only very few audiobooks to Overdrive.

My home library is using Axis 360 for new material, which I dislike, but in any case they haven't been doing too well adding audiobooks either.

I've never requested a book--if I really want something I buy it--but I do like to browse and see if something catches my eye or fits my mood. And the pickings have been slim.

While I'm ranting a bit about libraries, I wish they would let one search across all their audiobook catalogs at once, instead of separate searches at Overdrive, Axis 360, One-Click, or whatever. I don't care where they got the title from, I just want to know if I can borrow it!

That's an excellent idea. It would certainly make searching easier.

If I go to my libraries actual web site, not overdrive, 360,or one click but, their actual main web site, I can search for whatever and it will show up all versions of that item. So it will show hb book, paper book, large print, cd, or digital. If I click on digital it will tell me where all it is available, say overdrive and hoopla. And then I can click on the link, it will take me to that service.
But, this is a per library search. I don't know of a way to do this if you are a member of several libraries.

I listened to 2 audio books. I couldn't get them from Scribd or my libraries, so I was glad of the opportunity. However, I have cancelled Tune In (though my free trial is still good for the remainder of the month). I don't like their web interface, or the app itself. I don't like that I have to keep my device connected to stream the audio book. And I don't like the blip of another book inserting itself between every chapter break.

For me, those searches don't work too well. At my home library, though the titles will be listed, the links go to Overdrive or Axis 360, not to the specific title. So then I have to search again. And I've noticed at FLP that I get more results than audiobooks actually available to check out or place a hold.

This has long been a bee in my bonnet. The closest substitute (though not ideal) seems to be Worldcat.org. On the upside, I'd read somewhere that Worldcat was going to integrate more sources in its search engine; looking forward to that.
