Exclamation Frozen Screen

Hi, I found this forum while searching for solutions to my Clara HD screen freezing in "resting mode" (that's a translation of the Swedish, not entirely sure if that's what's it called in English). I tried all of the usual solutions that came up while googling like resetting and restarting, plugging in etc but nothing changes. I just wanted to confirm my suspicion that I have the same issue as a person that posted on this forum with the same problem before. That the "substrate" or whatever is broken. Does this mean that the screen is basically dead and you need to get it repaired or more likely replaced?

Thanks in advance for any replies

The screen is broken. IMHO, you are best to replace it.

Is this a common issue with kobo or Clara HD specifically? It's so absurd for it to just stop working like that. This is the first book I started reading on it.

Skärmen är fysiskt skadad, så om din Clara fortfarande har en garanti, byt ut den snabbt!

Unfortunately, it is a problem for nearly all e-ink screens. Most use a glass back-plane for the screen. That can be broken a lot easier than we would like. It can be from an impact, or to much twisting. And sometimes it isn't obvious, but, more an accumulation of damage over time.

There are a few devices, such as the Kobo Forma, that use a plastic back-plane. These are a lot more rugged. And noticeably lighter. But, also noticeably more expensive.

A screen that's been damaged voids the warranty.
