Trouble Synching e-Book Not Purchased at Amazon
Hello Everyone,
I am having some difficulty adding an e-book I purchased to my Kindle. I have a Kindle 2, global edition (I am in Canada). I was able to download the book (.prc format) and transferred it to the Kindle using the USB cable. When I disconnected the USB, it wasn't on the Kindle. I have tried three times without any luck. Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so, how did you resolve it? I've e-mailed the retailer as well but thought I'd post my issue here in case someone else has figured out how to resolve this. Thanks for any help/suggestions you may have. |

Did you put the book in the 'documents' folder? Are you sure it does not have DRM? When you connect the Kindle via USB, where do you see the book? If it is in the root folder, you need to move it to the 'documents' folder. Can you open the book on your pc using Mobipocket Reader? If so, it should work on the Kindle.

Hi Susan,
Thanks for the quick reply. When I tried opening the file in Mobipocket (desktop), it came up with an error message that the file was corrupted. The store I purchased it from has gotten back to me as well and they've let me know that sometimes a file becomes corrupt in the download process. They will be sending me a new one. Thanks again. |

I'm having the same issue, I think. I connect my new Kindle 2 to the computer, and I can see the Kindle device but when I click on it in Windows Explorer (I'm using XP), the device is blank. I know I have some books on it that I bought via Amazon - why doesn't anything show up?
And, I downloaded a .mobi book onto my PC from Open Library which is supposedly open source, and when I try to move it onto the Kindle by dragging/dropping I get an error "Cannot copy fairytalesofbrot00grim: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name." I am able to move the file around to other PC folders, just not onto the Kindle. Help! What am I doing wrong? |
