Help with resetting Boox Note

Hi,

My Boox Note is stuck - it seems to be powered on but the screen still displays the POWER OFF text and graphic. How do I know it is powered on? Well, I can hear the OS making some noises at times, and also when I reset it then press the power button the blue light comes on briefly.

This happened once before and it eventually 'woke up' after a few days. I presumed at the time that Dropbox was doing some syncing and this had taken over the CPU. This time I was also using WiFi, but to download a Kindle book.

Here's what I've been doing to reset:

Hold Home button while doing a 10 second press on power button.
Let go of power button
After 5 seconds let go of home button.

If I go through this procedure, then do a long press (3 - 5 secs) on the power button it lights up blue briefly. At this point, the device seems to be 'on' but the screen does not update.

Any ideas on how to proceed? Onyx have responded saying I can send the device in for maintenance at my postage expense. I'm not too pleased about that as the device is only about a year old and in pristine condition. Not sure what the warranty status is.

Update

OK, now the screen has changed to display just ONYX. I have been able to access files on the device by connecting to a Windows machine. (Previously, using Macs, the device wasn't recognised.) Is there any way to force a reset from the connected PC? I tried using adb to connect to the Note but no device was detected, even when it was recognised as a USB storage device.

Sounds like your display might be broken.

I just got a Note 2 and found that I can get into Recovery boot mode by holding down the front button while cold-booting the device. From there you can reset the data partition (wipe all configuration). If it is just a software issue,

wiping your data and cache partitions might help. You will lose all settings and configuration.

Good luck.
