French retailer Fnac just announced the FnacBook
Fnac is a huge chain of book stores in Europe (i usually go to their stores when i am in Portugal and they have a very thorough selection of titles) , so the introduction of a book reader means that a lot more published ebooks are coming soon... which is great news. The bad news is... ANOTHER device?...
As for the device itself i don't think it can compete with Sony or Kindle... but see for yourself: http://www.the-digital-reader.com/20...-the-fnacbook/ |

yes success
Sagem Wireless showed this device back in February. Charbax shot a video of it. It was called the Binder at the time and it uses a SiPix display. I suspect the innards are direct from Qisda with some minor changes for button positioning and the casing just for this device. The firmware at the time looked just like that of the other Qisda/Benq 6" sipix display readers. I was supposed to talk with them again in August for a sample and forgot. email sent edit: hahaha had i read Nate's article before running off to search my gmail I wouldnt have had to guess Last edited by Dulin's Books; 10-24-2010 at 06:07 PM. |

Is their Adobe proprietary like B & N's? Or can anyone with an Adobe account use it with an Epub-compatible reader?
I liked FNAC of downtown Lisbon ... once I figured out how to get there! |

They have some very nice ones in beautiful old restored buildings in the historic district in Lisbon and Porto. The one in Porto is in a very beautiful part of the city. I never get tired of going there . If you never been to Porto you should. It is a lot prettier than Lisbon, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site , with two other UNESCO sites in the surroundings (Guimarães and the Douro Valley). Simply awesome!!
