Chinese version vs international version?

I am about to buy the Boox Tab X but couldn't decide where should I get it.

I can either get it on Taobao when my mom were in China, or I could buy one from Amazon.ca (currently living in Canada). The former would be Chinese version I assumed and the one on Amazon.ca would be international?

Is there any difference between these in terms of firmwares? I want definitely google play support and don't want bloatwares...

Don't know if there is a difference between models bought in China and those bought abroad.

Personally, even though I live in Canada, I have bought all my Boox ereaders from ereader.store in Germany. I highly recommend them if the device is not on amazon.ca. https://ereader.store/en/13-3-inch-screen-reader-18

Just be aware that, if bought on Amazon, the Tab X apparently does not come with a cover. If bought from ereader.store, the cover is included. That is something which you may also want to look into if you are having your mother buy the device for you in China.

Chinese version doesn't have google play. International version does have google play.

I'm also trying to figure out whether to buy a Boox from the official taobao store or from their website in Hong Kong. The customer service on taobao has told me that the China version cannot be flashed with the international firmware, so if you want native google app support then it would be difficult? China version does support English language interface though.

Has anyone tried to flash the china market versions with international firmware?

Separately, are there any issues with installing APKs from other sources onto the china version of a BOOX device? For example, can you install the google play store?

No,you can enable google play in chinese version,there's an option you can switch on.
All you should focus on is the warranty, is it convenient for you?

also another different you should know
e.g my leaf2 is chinese version，the device name is "Leaf2_P".When you use koreader,the app can't know this device name(international version is Leaf2 without "_p").you will not get fully functions(eink refresh,light control)

In general two versions are same after all

I have heard the CHN version has a modified android that's not very compatible with lots of apps from Google Play. Especially for google notification framework
