My new Libra 2

Well, my patience has paid off. Picked up a new Libra 2 from Chapters-Indigo today on sale.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

My usage is pretty basic, but being able to sort book sets correctly is a big plus for me, something which could not be done on a Kindle.

So, I've read 1.5 books on the Libra 2 so far. (I have some kind of virus, I've had a lot of time to read the past couple of days.)

Wow, the difference between the Libra 2 and my old Aura H2O is very, very noticeable.

So far I've been using a mix of touchscreen and inverted buttons to read. I like having the option of the buttons, even if I don't use then full-time (it depends on my grip.)

The Libra 2 is thicker and heavier than the Libra H2O (Libra 1), but has a better screen and contrast, and its frontlight is more even. Also it's 32 GB vs the 8 GB of the original, and has USB-C.

No.

Only the Sage and Elipsa have a stylus currently and it's more use for standalone notes or scribbling on a PDF. Notes on epub are best done with onscreen touch keyboard.

I just ordered a Kobo Libra 2 direct on Kobo.ie EUR 189.99, free shipping and that includes the substantial Irish VAT.
You have to pay that no matter where you order and if outside EU there is customs duty added first (on item inc shipping cost) if over €150. Duty varies with product and source country. VAT is charged on total of item, shipping and duty.

Under €20 per order inc shipping used to be VAT free from outside EU, but that's gone.

Just wanted to chime in on one more thing: one of the things I love about Kobo is that it has support for Canadian library loans via Overdrive.

This is the first Kobo e-reader I've owned that has the built-in Overdrive integration.

It is nice. Definitely a bit of a learning curve, but nice. I've only ever had the one library card, so that isn't a limiting factor for me.

I wish it could access my Overdrive wish list though. Small nit-pick. I'm mostly happy to say goodbye to ADE for the most part.
