Moved to another country, loosing books when syncing
Hi,
I am writing this on behalf of my wife who has problems with her ereader since we moved from Germany to Denmark. Everytime she tries to sync books the eReader software on her laptop says she can't do that because she is in the wrong country. But when she changes the country she looses the german ebooks she bought. Is there any way to have two countries registered? I'd have no problem rooting the reader if that would help. |

This is why ebooks suck (and other "online" content, music, videos etc.).
To your question, no, I know no solution to this. I only read free ePubs. However, if possible, I'll try to get these books somewhere outside their influence (say on an USB-stick or so), unDRM them, then use them as "free" ePubs.... everywhere (country or device) |

Calibre. Get all the ebooks downloaded to your computer and put them in Calibre. Then, you can sideload the books to read them.

Thanks for telling that we lose cloud content even when crossing a border within EU. There's a lesson in this:
Cloud content is an evil idea. Only trust the files you can see with your own eyes on the drive. Download everything you can and keep it safe in the folder you know. |

Sounds like even in the EU the copyright and distribution rights vary from country to country. Seems then that even on a vacation with an ebook reader a attempted Sync after crossing a border from your own country could cause book losses. Will they be restored from your cloud when you return home? Be interesting to know.
