I have managed to reach 3/4 through the March Upcountry and and I can understand now why members of this forum seem to like the series. Its well written and has a bit of action in it, two things that I like about novels.

Well, I managed to read three short stories and book that's been on my TBR for quite a while, knocking my TBR down by 2 (I only counted the short stories as a single item.) That's good, since I also managed to NOT buy any books this weekend. The book was one I'd kind of avoided, but couldn't get completely off my list, so that's a bonus.

Just finished God Emperor of Dune!! Made it to over 10% of my goal.....unfortunately, at this pace, I won't make it. Hopefully the summer months I can pick up the pace a little.

I read the oringial dune series many years ago in high school when my teacher assigned book reports for one book in each catagory that she laid out. When it came time to read a a sci-fi book, I had never read one at the time, I wanted "the best of the genere". After doing a litterature search at the local library I came up with the Dune series and after some reading it became obvious why the dune series is one of the best series in the sci-fi genere. The personality of Paul Maudib Atreeties was rather compelling as well as when he trains his fremmen warriors. I still think, to this day, that the first in that series was the best of the series although I have never read any of the new dune series that Brian Herbert has been publishing these days. I might have to go back to read some of them in the near future.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying March Upcountry, jbcohen!
I think that I made it up to "Chapterhouse: Dune", bought the hardcover but never read it. I was Dune'd out by that point. |

Is everyone at the 1/3 mark of their goals or do you need to spend some quality time with your books this weekend to get there before the end of the month?
I have managed to get to 38% done, so I am about on track - I know that November/December I won't get as much read as in other months, so I have to read a bit ahead. |

I didn't have a hard and fast quantity goal, though I'm clearly going to be well beyond 100 books. What I had was a quality goal, and I'm behind in that, I fear.

I guess I am going to need to do some catching up. I am trailing both of you, I am only 31% through the books.

I've got a number of books and audiobooks going all at once, so I tend to batch my updates. I don't have any specific monthly/quarterly percentage goals to reach.

I'm just about on target. My read:bought ratio is a little high, but my TBR is below 340.

I'm well ahead of my goal. At this rate, I could add another 40 books to my goal... although I rather think not, as I hope that I'll find some energy later in the year to do something else but read in my free time, too.
