Not long ago they snuck some cryptomining shit into their antivirus, though they removed it after a bunch of bad press.

Norton/Symantec is a no go. My system runs Windows Security. That works pretty well and I see no need for something else.

I would like to decrypt the Print Replica books in my Kindle library ('AZW4'). I take it the only way to do this is using Kindle for Mac/PC, ideally an older version? Has someone done this recently, and if so can you share your setup?

Does the calibre plugin need to have access to the Kindle application to decrypt, or if I download it on another machine and copy to where calibre is, can it decrypt successfully?

A few months ago, I was able to use 1.17 and Kindle Unpack. The file said MOBI; it was actually an AZW4 with a PDF inside.

Once you're in the Library folder, you can navigate to the proper subfolder: User > Library > Application Support > Kindle folder or User > Library > Application Support > Containers > com.amazon.Kindle
Thanks I already have the Library folder visible and accessible There is no Kindle folder or com.amazon.kindle folder.

Any other thoughts?

Interesting. What version K4Mac are you using and did you download it from Amazon directly or the Apple App Store?

Also, just to be sure, you're looking in the Library folder in your User folder, yes? Not the main Library folder on your Mac?

Finally, if you can't find the Kindle folder or com.amazon.kindle, are you able to find your Kindle books? If so, what's the filepath to your Kindle books?

Downloaded 1.28 from one of the links provided.

Location is Documents/My Kindle Content

Looks like I will have to buy a s/h Kindle may be easier.

It is easier (IMHO) to ave a physical Kindle registered to your account as long as said Kindle can handle KF8. It does not need to handle KFX.

That's interesting. The instructions for finding Kindle Content folder in Library/Application Support or Library/Containers has been longstanding on GitHub etc., and I haven't noticed anyone reporting it changed with Monterey. Did you use Preferences to manually move your Kindle Content folder to Documents at some point?

In any case, my Library/Application Support folder contains a "Kindle" folder which in turn contains 4 folders: Cache, My Kindle Content, storage, updates.

So you're saying in your Documents folder, you just have a "My Kindle Content" folder and there's no "Kindle" parent folder that also contains "Cache", "storage", and "updates"?

Also, if you can find the Kindle folder that has "Cache", etc. the "updates" folder only appears after the first auto-update. If you can find the Kindle folder and there is no "updates" folder, simply create a new empty folder, name it "updates" and make read-only.

Finally, I would suggest trying to do a clean install of K4Mac, but if you can't find the "Kindle" folder to delete, I'm not sure how you'd accomplish that

@lkmiller: Valkrider is on macOS Monterey, not Windows. Also, the goal was to thwart auto-updates, which requires access to the main Kindle folder.

For a long time, the main Kindle folder defaulted to Library >Application Support or Library >Containers folder (and the DeDRM FAQs still reference that here: https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools...md#macintosh-1).

Any idea where it might be on installations that default the My Kindle Content folder to Documents?

I know. I just thought it was odd that it was the usual local for Windows. Are they sure they're on a Mac?

A quick update, I gave up trying to get this sorted so managed to find a pack of 2 s/h early Kindles locally very cheap so bought them. And now all sorted as a result and now don't need the Kindle app on my Mac.
