My home-made kindle 3 cover
Until I could afford a better, sturdier cover for my newly-bought kindle 3, i'll be using this:
I was thinking of replacing the plastic corners to elastic garters, on all four corners. I'm gonna have to buy some. Do you guys have your own home-made kindle covers? |

Heh, my homemade one (a sleeve actually) doesn't look quite as nice:
But it works, with the slight complication of having one of my cats decide to use it as a scratching pad. I was going to cover it once more with brown duct tape, but didn't realize I was out of it. So for now, just silver (and curiously, the kindle screen seems to reflect about as much as silver duct tape) |

So this is my home made cover
Especially for bed reading, so I do not have to hold kindle in my hands - I just lean it on my big paunch - One hand is for holding cover and turning pages, second hand is for holding of a big piece of chocolate.... I used velcro fastener on this cover, so I can easily fasten K3 without any mod on it. Last edited by jozicka; 10-28-2010 at 07:57 AM. |

@JeremyR: the kindle looks quite secure in that one.. very practical I made that cover just for bed reading and reading outside..
@jozicka: wow, that's exactly what i wanted to do with my cover.. maybe i should use velcro too.. |

This is my homemade Moleskine cover. Took a moleskine sketchpad, cut out the notebook, bought some faux suede lining from amazon for £5 and stuck to the inside front, back and spine, cut out the surround for the kindle from the amazon packaging it was shipped in, stuck a hollowed out audio cable around the edges, and finally stuck some hitchhikers guide to the galaxy stickers on the cover. It works perfectly, and with the cable around the edge, the kindle clicks into place and is very secure, and pops out again easily.

I like odelay's cover, especially that way to hold the kindle seems very unique.
While i'm still shopping around for a kindle cover that i like, i made a temporary sleeve casing for protecting my kindle in my bag. This temporary casing is made using my old organiser that i don't use anymore and the official flimsy sleeve cover from my old sony touch edition. I didn't actually do much except i removed the midsection of the organiser and taped the gaping hole. But the kindle with the sleeve fits well into the organiser. |

Thanks. Yeah, I stuck a sheet of the suede lining to the inside back cover first, then used superglue to fix the package surround onto that.

So I ripped all the paper out and used three layers of solid carton (from the packing of a keyboard in my case), cut out the form of the kindle, stuck the layers together with super glue, covered the whole lot with felt (use cold glue, aka wood glue). Was really easy, looks great and adds the extra bumping protection where the whole Kindle is now sunken in a sturdy casing. |
