Drumroll please... MobileRead Fall Contest winners revealed!
A few weeks ago we put a challenge to our readers: impress us with your detective skills and help us discover the murderer in What The Butler Saw (ePub). We were truly impressed by the overwhelming response, and I gotta tell ya, we were humbled, silenced and taken by all the wonderful thoughts you sent our way. So thank you all!
And now for the moment everyone on the Internet (just play along) has been waiting for: it's time to announce the winners (randomly chosen). The First Prize (ebook reader of your choice) goes to ...Schauberger! The Second Prize (Amazon Kindle 3G) goes to ... Leep! The Third Prize (Amazon Kindle 3G) goes to ... IceHand! The Fourth Prize (PocketBook Pro 902) goes to ... jpuntd! Furthermore, the ten e-book vouchers (from a store of your choice) go to: federzwoelf, antoniorafael, omk3, lovestoreadalot, FlorenceArt, thrawn_aj, LCF, WT Sharpe, mrscoach, and Bilbo1967! A big congrats to the winners! My personal thank you to the entire MobileRead team who worked unbelievably hard behind the scenes - it seriously means the world to me that you believe in what we're doing here! And finally, a big thumbs up to PocketBook for sponsoring a shiny new PocketBook Pro 902 device! Now, you're probably thinking: "but what about MEEEEE?!" We have good news for you too; Santa has tons of e-book goodies in his sleigh, meaning, stay tuned for our next contest! Last edited by Alexander Turcic; 11-21-2010 at 07:55 PM. |

Wow! Am I a happy camper. And kudos to you poohbear for all your time developing the story and the "red herrings". Can't imagine how much time you spent putting it all together. And all those chicken jokes!
Just dumb luck guess and PilotBob seemed like the best murderer. Keep thinking that it was all about the "chicken", but try as I might, could never get that angle to work. Thanks again Mobileread! |

Thank you for the prize MR! I wasn't particularly clever and didn't guess the "right" murderer, so I feel a bit like a cheat, but it's nice to be a winner anyway

No worries, we had more prizes than "right" murderers, thus we included everyone in the voucher drawing.

Congratulation winners.

How come you can read my thoughts? Ha?!? ;-) Quote:
Now seriously. Please consider next time that we, Mobilereaders, are very diverse community. There are many, many mobilereaders for whom English is second or third languages. I personally belong to that category. When reading the excellent (and very confusing ;-) ) contest story, I had a sinking feeling that to be able to make any meaning I would need to be native English speaker with PhD degree from English whodunits to have a chance. Please, pretty please, when you plan the next contest, consider making rules in such a way, that we - the non-native-Ehglish-speakers - can have at least illusion of being able to compete. |
