Kobo not charging when plugged in

My father is having a problem with his Kobo. He writes:

Quote:
My Kobo will not charge! First it go to where it would not charge using a wall wart, and now it won't charge from the computer either. It has been plugged in all night and still says "Your battery is nearly empty, please connect to a power source."

What should I do?
Any advice?

Hm, not sure. He could try the reset button on the back, and maybe another USB port. If that doesn't work then he should contact kobo customer support and they should replace it if it's still under warranty.

Or, even better, a separate USB wall charger. This should be the primary method for charging. It is faster and much more reliable method. They are cheap these days, even one for a cell-phone will work fine.

The OP stated that the first fail was with a wall charger, then with the USB cable. That leads me to believe it is a problem with the reader itself.

It can't hurt to try a different USB cable (or a port in the back, for that matter), but if the wall wort didn't work and charging from the PC (that would be a USB charge, right?) both didn't work....

When he plugs it in, 2 options appear - Keep Reading or Manage Library. Is he choosing one of the options? I forgot to choose one once and noticed that it didn't charge until I did.
