I tried that now - no, swipe up doesn't help. It looks like the home button actually closes the notification, brings me to "home", but just doesn't redraw the new state. I tried to summon the Task manager with a swipe, and it didn't draw that one too - although last time I did that it did.

1) Earlier, I tried to uninstall things with System App Remover. This lead me to inability to boot. I so restored the system.img with edl and didn't try to uninstall since then.

The Lights.apk works fine on Kon-Tiki 2. Max warm and max cold sliders correspond to Onyx'es limits in the brightness dialog. The settings are written correctly.

I still can't figure out how to manually call the stock Brightness dialog. I tried:

am broadcast -a com.android.systemui.SHOW_BRIGHTNESS_DIALOG
am broadcast -a com.onyx.action.SHOW_BRIGHTNESS_DIALOG

but still not success. Maybe I should look in the same place where you found "am broadcast -a com.onyx.action.show.contrast.dialog"? Can you please share it?

I use this broadcast with Back-button long-press and I noticed these things:
1) From fresh start, there is no "Receiver not registered:" errors at all when I broadcast.
2) When I tap outside, the dialog closes. Then if broadcast again, I will get one error. Repeat again - one more, and so on. So I do this n times, I receive n errors.

So it looks like the action to close the dialog is wrong.

How to manually remove the receiver?

"am broadcast -a android.intent.action.CLOSE_SYSTEM_DIALOGS" for closing the dialog doesn't make any difference.

That's all in systemuiWithGrandiosePretensions.apk

com.android.systemui.statusbar.phone is the directory.
I can't believe it, there are fifteen separate BroadcastReceivers to listen for things like this.
They could have all been rolled into one BroadcastReceiver.

The exact same behavior is when I use the status bar button to open the brightness dialog. So the issue is with the brightness dialog itself.
