A question about special chars
I don't know if this an issue of Sigil or from my system but I can't see special chars or emojis like "👻" or "🏳️" under Arch Linux but the symbols are displayed perfectly under Windows. In both Sigil I have installed the Arial Unicode MS font and in both Sigil that font is enabled in Preferences.

If you installed MS fonts via the Arch ttf-ms-fonts AUR package, then the versions you installed are more than likely out of date and probably won't provide complete character sets.
You should either extract the fonts from Windows installation media and install them, or use the newer AUR ttf-ms-win8/10/11 packages (and provide your Windows installation media when asked) if you want the modern fonts with full character sets. Last edited by DiapDealer; 09-21-2022 at 10:49 AM. |

You can't see them in the Insert Character dialog table? Or you can not see them in Preview or CodeView after inserting them from the table?
If the former, look to see if any other font in the selected font family exists that might get selected first somehow? If the latter, choose a different fixed width font for CodeView or embed the required font in the epub for Preview. |

You may also want to try using the font in another application just to rule out Sigil.

Yes, it was not a Sigil issue. I was able to fix the problem by installing the proper fonts and changing priorities in /etc/fonts/conf.d/45-generic.conf and /etc/fonts/conf.d/60-generic.conf.
