Calibre won't send to Kindle through Gmail

Okay, I know this is a problem lots of people have, but I can't seem to fix it.

When I try to send a document through Calibre, it fails.

calibre, version 0.9.15 (darwin, isfrozen: True)
Failed to email book:

Sending failed...

I think I'm having trouble setting up the Gmail account through Calibre. I don't seem to get any options when I try to do that.

Help please!

In this case, something (e.g. antivirus) is preventing calibre from connecting to the internet to send the email.
