A thought regarding eInk ghosting

I checked Wiki. Triplex is merely a brand from 1912, later part of Pilkinton. Perhaps 1930s was when Triplex type windows became mandatory for windscreens in some countries?

I suspect damp got into the display panel, or it have been exposed to extreme cold or heat?

OLED panels sometimes have short life as they are not sealed as well as LCD. LCD has to use optically flat glass front and back and a seal nearly as good as for vacuum tubes (valves) like some planar VFDs (they are vacuum triodes). They also had to invent a special process for LCD assembly as the distance between panels is critical, unlike OLED.

I've always thought mobius eInk sounded dodgy for lifetime, but a 2010 panel failing sounds like seal failure.

I've a hardly used Kindle 3. Those came out in 2010, though I don't know when mine was made. OTOH I had a Kobo Touch and it had the worst display I've ever seen for ghosting.

I've read of people on here using the Kindle 2 (2009).

Is anyone here still got a working original Sony or a 2006 or 2007 model?

I've got a PRS-500 that I haven't used in a long time and a broken PRS-505 (see below).

I also have a PRS-600 (a large version of the PRS-300) somewhere in my stored goods. It was released in 2009. It was an okay e-reader but due to the touchscreen technology employed with this e-reader the text had a slightly fuzzy look. It wasn't as sharp as the previous non-touch screen models. It was intended to do more than just be an e-reader, it could also be used as a notebook. Unfortunately, the text was too small for easy reading.

Due to the fuzziness of the screen I eventually purchased a PRS-505 but I dropped it and the e-ink electronics inside the screen shattered. The screen itself didn't shatter but it looked like there were thin lines of black ink radiating from where the screen got hit, giving it the look of shattered glass.

Where I see problems with ghosting is on high speed modes like the old A2, nowadays just called "speed". In slow refreshing modes the ghosting is almost inexistent, specially after the appearance of Regal, but for users like me who use eReaders like tablets, when web browsing or veiwing youtube videos it would be great to not have all that ghosting.

I know the screen technology of eInk is far from LCD's screen, but I have a visual conditions that makes me only capable of using eInk (as others here), so hope one day that high refresh ghosting will improve
