Do you have a color eink device?

Amazon is making the Kindle worse then they've ever been with the 2024 releases and what they are doing with them.

I agree and I don't have the need to be an early adopter either. If my Oasis went belly up, I'd probably get a new Kindle PW signature. It reviews are pretty good. If I want color, I'll use my iPad mini.

Edit: Shipping date for an order has now moved out to Nov 20-29. I'm sure they are going to replace defective ones first.

I currently read on a rooted PW4 using koreader. When this dies, whatever I buy will run koreader without having to jailbreak - probably a kobo.

I have a fair number of non-fiction books with color illustrations/photos, so I would be interested in a color eink device. I also have some PDFs which need a bigger than 6" screen (mostly from Univ. of Chicago). I currently use a cheap, 10" android tablet for these, but I have a couple of problems with it - it is heavy, and I have to charge it every day if I'm reading on it.

So the next time I am in the market, I will seriously look at any color eink reader with a (more or less) 7" or larger screen, that can run koreader out of the box.

It sounds like one of Boox readers would be right up your alley since they have access to Google Play store and you can download whatever reading app you want.

That is why I'm interested in the Boox Go color 7" reader.

I voted the fourth option, though a few others might apply - I'm not planning to upgrade or replace my Libra H2O, but if I ever do so in the future I'd consider a colour device then. Maybe they'll have something better than Kaleido in a few years.

My Colorsoft arrived a week ago but I was traveling and didn't have a chance to try it out until today. I don't have the screen issue that others have been complaining about.

My current guess is that most people do not have a problem, and that the complainers are far more likely to leave negative reviews. There's really no way for anyone but certain people at Amazon to know how common the screen issue is.

The lack of buttons is not an issue if you don't have an issue with your cell phone. You just use the Kindle like you do your cell phone.

Yes, it is an issue. I don't want the screen of my ereader to be full of fingerprints like the screen of my phone is.

I also wonder if some part of it is that Kindle=ereader to most people, so there's likely many buyers who were expecting the Colorsoft to look like a tablet. The images on the Colorsoft page and the hype about their unique technology don't do a lot to dissuade this belief. And then there's the price.

I'm not a Kindle guy. But I bet I would be fine with the Colorsoft as is. But I do understand the wave of disappointment as well.
