I suppose you put up a copy of the email as a way of saying that if you didn't get the email, you're not eligible. However, what about the poor saps who didn't know about an advertisement/announcement that was sent to some people? The poor saps who only found the link to the webpage that welcomed them back to Audible, etc., etc.? The poor saps who don't view MobileRead posts, or just don't follow this thread? The poor saps who don't have friends who got the advertisement/announcement, either, or have friends that didn't pass along that information to them. They wouldn't, in all likelihood, ever know that they were supposed to receive an announcement/advertisement in their email if they were eligible. All that they might have is that poorly written and ambiguous popup. However, as I mentioned to CatLady, I feel like the weight of the argument does go to her side. In fact, I believe that now more than I did then. I try to be humble, magnanimous, open-minded, etc. and accept it when another side has the better an argument. BTW--if people read the address box or whatever it's called, which I almost always do, of the webpage with the popup, they would have seen this URL: "http://www.audible.com/?warnmsgkey=not_eligible_for_trial". That would be one more piece of evidence (and a strong one, too) that the person going to that particular webpage should go away with the idea that they were not eligible. With Audible, nothing's certain. Frequently it's a YMMV situation. That's why it never hurts to try for every offer you're interested in, even if the terms of those offers state you wouldn't qualify.

I followed the link posted above and was able to redeem the offer (I had canceled my Audible subscription maybe four or five months ago). In fact, there was a banner at Audible page with the offer and I followed that link to get it.

Does anyone know if I'll get a refund for unused time if I cancel my Inactive Listener account with Audible?
I'm feeling like we (other Inactive Listeners) are the Rodney Dangerfields of Audible. |

On my membership account it didn't work, but on my second account which has been inactive for a few months the ad shows up in the banner section on the home page and the link works to allow me to purchase the promo.
