That's true. I was thinking more of the claim of its being "taxing on the outlet". That's clearly not so. You're absolutely right, though, in saying that a certain degree of care is needed in the design of something that's potentially going to carry 4A. Heat loss = (I^2)*R, so goes as the square of the current.

Well, pretty much what you guys said was what I meant. I was worried about was some sort of heat issue. I'm afraid I used the wrong word. I was referring to the device itself. Now that I re-read my statement, I noticed how foolish it sounds. I have a pc which runs a whole bunch of devices and 10 usb slots, so I am aware that the outlet can handle it.
The device itself needs to be able to handle charging 4 devices at once. I have seen enough exploding chargers to (not usb though) to warrant my fear of generic charging devices. ^_^ |
