very, very new to eBook publishing
I'm a complete novice in eBook publishing, though I've published a number of paper books. (http://www.brentcbrolin.com/BrentCBrolin/Books.html) I am delighted with the iPad, and want to make my next book an eBook.
I have a couple of very basic questions about how one starts getting from content to eBook: The Calibre site lists HTML as one input source, but not XHTML. And the manual (or some instruction I read on site) also says: "The input format is first converted to XHTML by the appropriate Input Plugin." Do both of these references mean the original shouldn't be written in XHTML? As I am not a programmer, can the book (it will have several hundred photographs) be laid out in a program WYSIWYG program like Flux? http://www.theescapers.com/ Big step here, but I'm looking forward. Thanks for the input. |

Hi nonsequito, welcome aboard.
Can't help you directly with your query, but you might want to try posting it in the Calibre forum. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166 |

Hi nonsequito and welcome to Mobile Read. I hope you find the answers you are looking for.
I have started playing around with Sigil - but as I am not a programmer either am struggling slightly with it. But so far it works out ok (although it's not for commercial purposes. I create an ePub in Sigil and convert if necessary in Calibre. Maybe that's another way for you to look at. |
