I'm not sure, sorry, I would have to check. But, anyway, as the only device with this kind of functionality is Kobo, because of the Kobo Utilities Plugin (CC handles it automatically), I don't see the object of modifying Reading List.

The way I see it, if it's possible, the Reading List UI is perfect for this.

Besides, I wanted to restore the date created for books I haven't read yet, so the order by date in my TBR collection works for when I'm not in the mood for a particular genre and I want to read just the next book that's been waiting for ages there (yes, I'm picky and I have a really LOOOONG To Be Read pile) Now I'm thinking, I should put my retired Kobo Mini to work and try to figure out why the manual update metadata doesn't work. |

Thanks davidfor, as nobody else is reporting my problems, I think is more something on my side. It's not with an operation I usually perform, that's why I haven't look into it, if I decide to test it, I'll ask for your help.

My reason is simple, I have separate structure for my fiction and non-fiction books (All my fiction books are under author-name folder but non fiction books are not). So, while sending to device, before moving from fiction to non-fiction, I manually change the 'send to structure' in device configuration. This will not work with the reading list solution. I prefer a solution where it shows me the list of books that are not updated in the device and leave the choice to me. I believe 'safe-eject button' plugin would be a better fit for this. Quote:

But, I'd probably do what JSWolf suggested and use a reading list for these changes. Add all the books I've fiddled with to it and at connect time decide the action - send or update metadata. |

Another reason is that I very recently started actively managing my books using calibre. So, I am doing lot of work everything from book cover updates to collections to custom patch work. So, it is more of a mess than it should be. |

I'll have to answer properly from home tonight. But, the manual for the template language is at https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/template_lang.html. And https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=100949 has a lot of examples that could help. I'd be looking at something with either "contains" or "strcmp". |

If anyone interested, this is what I use, Code:
{#folder1:lookup(Non Fiction, , authors)} Complete save template Code:
Books/{#folder1}/{#folder2}/{#folder3}/{#folder4}/{#folder1:lookup(Non Fiction, , authors)}/{series:re(([^\s])[^\s]+(\s|$),\1)} {series_index:0>2s|| - } {title} |
