E-Book Viewer as standalone viewer
I am using the OSX verxion of Calibre, and I visited my brother who is using the windows version.
He was able to click on an epub file and it automatically opened in calibre's e-book viewwr instead of calibre itself. I would like to do this on my imac. Can any one give me instructions? I have installed the commandline options in calibre, but I dont know what to do next to view them. I prefer to add books to calibre manually, so it is not a problem if that is not an option, once I have associated the ebook files with the viewer rather than the calibre main prog. Any help gratefully, received. Peter Swallow. |

If you want the books to open in Calibre's viewer when you open them from within Calibre itself, check preferences->behaviour. There's a list of formats to be opened in the ebook viewer on the lower right hand side.
If you want to open ePubs in the Calibre viewer when you open them in your file manager, you'll need to associate the files to open with the viewer. I don't know how to do that on OSX. |

I don't think this is possible on OS X. The viewer is part of the calibre application bundle. Setting the association to calibre will open the main calibe library app. I don't think you can set Finder to use a command line application as a file association.
