Just seen this on another forum. No other info available.

I'd be surprised to see Amazon increase the price, personally.

That is strange.
On a side note, I didn't realize you guys paid so much for these. Do those prices include VAT? |

Yes. All prices quoted in the UK have to include VAT.

Crappy exchange rate? The exchange rate is currently £1 = $1.64. That's pretty much where it's been for last couple of years, give or take a few per cent. What exchange rates are you referring to?

Just the crazy exchange rates in general-I just know that we've been getting killed with exchange rates on our overseas contracts recently-and had to make some unhappy adjustments.

Where did the picture come from? Amazon.co.uk still shows the 3G model at 152.
Raising the price doesn't make any sense. My guess is that someone in Amazon's graphic design department was working on a new splash page based off of something already done for the American site, and the price just hadn't been updated yet. ETA: Scratch that... apparently the VAT increased from 17.5% to 20%. ETA again: Scratch that... the VAT increase would only take the price up to 155. So I'm standing by my original theory. There's a discussion thread over on Amazon UK... apparently the 189 price appeared momentarily.
Raising the price would be illogical. I mean, yeah, I suppose they could still do it, but it would just be very dumb. 189 is the 3G price in both U.S. dollars and euros... somebody uploading a new splash page after the currency symbol was changed but before the price was updated--that just seems like the most logical explanation to me. |

That certainly seems like the most likely explanation, I agree.

Actually, the exchange rate is very good, if you're European and want to buy something in the US, and very bad if you're an American and want to buy something in Europe...
