Benson, E. F.: David Blaize and the Blue Door (illus). v1. 07 Apr 2021

A children’s fantasy set in David’s early childhood, influenced by the work of Lewis Carroll. A charming tale, full of fun and nonsense.
“Several years ago Mr. Benson wrote a story about this same David in his lively schoolboy stage. Here we have David as a small child. Jolly things happened to him when he went through the blue door, and only Alice in Wonderland saw more wonderful and topsy-turvy sights than David.”
[—The Outlook (review in “Books for Young People” column), 26-Nov-1919]

====
Note: This should not be considered as a prequel to the other David Blaize novels, but rather as a stand-alone story.

26 illustrations by Henry Justice Ford (1860–1941).
