Kobo touch wifi connection problems
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Morning all....Hope someone is able to help me with a massive new problem!! We have 2 kobo touch readers.......yesterday morning my wife turned hers on and there were huge changes to her home screen, and when trying to search for new books there was an alert that there was no wifi connection...I re input our wifi password ( as was always in the reader before ) , and got a message saying that it could not connect to the wifi....I retried to input the required information from a distance of 6 inches from my wireless router..still could not connect........... Now this morning.....my touch reader has lost its wifi connection as well..I have gone through the same song and dance with this one as well..and still the response is..." Cannot connect to wifi ". I am completely lost now.. Any idea of whats happening orm how I can fix this issue at my end?? Would appreciate your assistance. Thanks in advance.: |

There do seem to be issues with current Kobo f/w and WiFi connections. I have a Glo with f/w 3.1.1 (761b066420 12/11/13) and had had no issues. Now it struck me that maybe my setup was atypical in that my router was configured to assign a static IP address to my device based on its MAC address. I removed that entry (actually just changed the MAC address on router) and then tried a sync; all worked. I waited until the connection was down and tried again. This time, no go; unable to connect to the network.
I tried several times with no luck. I reenabled the static IP address and still had issues until I turned the Glo off and back on. Could you maybe see if your router supports assigning static IP addresses via DHCP, and if it does, setup static addresses for both of your ereaders. |

Sounds like the bug introduced in 3.0. The Kobo will connect successfully when it's been rebooted, but fails to reconnect after it has gone to sleep (until the next reboot). I've tried everything I could think of, but nothing has made it work. Firmware 2.x works just fine, and downgrading to 2.10 also works, but all 3.x firmwares have this bug. Note that not all people suffer from this bug, it may have something to do with the router the Kobo's trying to connect.
If you have it, there is a work-around: setting up the router to always assign the same IP-address to the Kobo makes the connection work. |
