How does Caliber store MetaData?

I'm hoping to use a different program that will let me organize a bit more(caliber is getting bogged down) but I'd like it to display MetaData, is it stored in a common way in the output files, or it it exclusive to caliber?

So that's a no? The meta data is not added to the .epub itself?
Is there any way I can have the Metadata added into the Epub?

If I make a .epub and want to upload it here is there any way to get it added so someone else can have it show up in their caliber?
I don't mind if I can't get tags perhaps, but everything else is kind of important. Even tags are nice.

Use save to disk, the saved epub will have updated metadata

Cool I almost cried there for a minute.

I've spent about a week working my way into the PG dvd tagging and sorting and on and on.
I was about to cry when you said it was in a DB. Caliber definitely rocks.
I'll be using something else as a library program just because I want to sort by genre, and the entire PG dvd seems to bog caliber down a bit.
