Let's see
iTouch - 4.0 iPhone 8 - 4.7 iPhone 8+ 5.5 iPad Mini - 7.9 iPad - 9.7 iPad Pro - 10.5 iPad Pro - 12.9 I hope they don't go with the 6.5 iPhone and drop the iPad Mini. I have an iPhone 7+, iPad Mini and iPad Pro 12.9. The 12.9 is my main reading device, while I use the iPad mini to read at lunch. I have used the iPhone 7+ to read, but it wasn't exactly optimum. Anything bigger than the iPhone plus really is too big to put in my shirt or pants pocket, so I wouldn't want a 6.5 inch iPhone as a phone. |

God, no! Phablets just do not appeal at all. I just think that its likely that they will drop the mini line, if they go bigger on phones.
I'm glad I bought my Mini 4. I can't afford to keep upgrading everything anyway, so even if I really wanted one I couldnt do it. I've got this vague plan to sell off my 6S because even though its functions are what I want, the phone itself is just a tad too big for my comfort, so I am looking at getting an SE instead. I didnt like the 5 when it first came out because I didnt like reading "long" and like Harry preferred the 4:3 ratio, but I got used to it, and adjusted margins to accommodate to a large extent (thank you Hyphen)... so I want an SE... I do Apple Pay now and my 5S doesnt, otherwise I would just switch back to that. Its fine for most uses, just not anything needing NFC. I keep hoping the SE will get an upgrade to (at least) iPhone 7 level, but theres another thing... Ming-Chi Kuo mentions nothing of the SE, and I'm thinking what there is, is all there will ever be. |

The larger screen is really nice using Calibre Companion. I like to look at my books on the shelf, as if they were real. Its just so...wonderful. I feel like a dragon and a pile of gold. Just talking about it makes me excited. I love having all of that metadata *and* getting to see the covers. There are always limitations to one's satisfaction in life though and found out here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=292643 that even my iPhone 7+ that I only inherited from my wife last month, may not be powerful enough. The iPad Pro uses the same CPU (not sure about the RAM) otherwise I would go into crazy consumer mode and give one to my wife for Christmas just so I could borrow it for books...
I tried reading on my phone for the first time today, using CC to open an ePub in iBooks, and actually it wasn't so bad. I wonder what is going to happen with reading in AR...Apple is supposedly really into AR and with the roadmap for rolling out VR in their computers, we may see something on their mobile devices in just a year or two |
