Adding .prc files to the Calibre Library

For a number of years I have used mobireader as my library for both purchased and converted books.
My files are nearly all .prc (mobi).
I am neat with my metadata just Author Book Title and cover.
I have now bought a Kindle DXG and wish to switch to using Calibre as my main library.
The problem I have experienced is when I drop a .prc file into the library it then changes the title by adding the author to the beginning of the file name within windows explorer . I just want the file to remain the same, the name of the book ie Treasure Island.prc (or.mobi) or if I output it to epub.
As I do not want my files to change can anyone help please,with Janet and John instructions. I would be very grateful

The file names in the calibre library are named according to calibre and is not something you can change. There is no relation between the file name as it exists in the calibre library and how it is named when it is sent to your device. There shouldn't be any reason anyone would feel compelled to go into the calibre library via a file manager like explorer. Worldwalker explains the setup here.

The file names inside calibre are not something you need to concern yourself with. Calibre gives you multiple avenues to export your book using the Send to device, Save to Disk or Connect to folder features with whatever file name you want using the save templates.

Your original source files do not change. Calibre copies the files to its library/database using a naming scheme to keep track as it needs to.

Your Welcome, calibre is so customizable it sometimes takes a while to wade through everything it can do.
